Delta Air Lines has donated it's last DC-9 to the Carolinas Aviation Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina. Here are a few photos from yesterday's arrival ceremony.
Flight 9944 from Atlanta, Georgia arrived shortly after noon.
Delta ship 9870, N779NC, is a 1979 McDonnell Douglas DC-9-51, serial # 48101.
The water cannon salute was a nice touch.
The DC-9 is in good company. The Carolinas Aviation Museum is home to the Eastern Air Lines DC-7B, and the Sullenberger-Skiles USAirways "Miracle on the Hudson" Airbus A320.
When you visit the museum, be sure to ask for Pop Cottom and Joe Baker. They have all the wisdom!
